Job Overview:
The mandate of this role is to establish innovative credit risk solutions and incorporate best in class tactics to minimize losses while growing in select segments for revolving products, specifically non-branch channels on an international level. This individual will also provide credit risk leadership across multiple teams including; Retail Lending, Credit Cards, Sales and Service, and Marketing, on utilizing Credit Risk solutions for emerging business strategies.
Responsibilities
- Develop a strategic plan for selective growth across the division at the point of acquisition for revolving products.
- Lead development of credit risk requirements and application processing for non-branch channel acquisition.
- Clear focus on identifying and quantifying the relationships between applicant characteristics and profit drivers such as credit risk, account activation, utilization and attrition with the ultimate objective of developing account acquisition strategies that improve the profitability of the bank’s International Retail Lending portfolio.
- Provide credit risk management leadership on multidisciplinary teams which include; segment, call centre, external sales, product, marketing, operations, shared services, and sales and service to build low risk and high value customer relationships using risk management principles.
- Enhance campaign criteria as economic conditions change in key business sites.
- Lead the development and prepare “deep dive” risk analysis/monitoring and placement of control processes to ensure fully leveraged operational execution.
- Provide key performance metrics to campaign project team to recommend opportunities and manage risk.
- Support credit card new product business cases by estimating future loss rates, credit assignment and usage levels.
Required Competencies
-
A minimum of five years experience in the risk/portfolio management field, with a proven track record of success in leading and implementing change.
- Establishing innovative loss control / reduction strategies for revolving products (Credit Cards and Lines of Credit) at origination and account management.
- Spearheading revolving product analytics which will drive loss reduction solutions, optimizing the impact on revenues. This would include; origination criteria, channel management, exceptions, line management at origination as well as automatic limit increases and skip-a-payment programs.
- Influence change across departments to best utilize the Bank’s infrastructure to manage losses. This would include regular liaison with Retail Lending, Credit Cards, Marketing, Operations, Shared Services, Sales and Service and country representatives.
- Strong analytical and MIS background, including the ability to apply standard statistical techniques using SAS to extract, analyze and manage data.
- Ability to leverage SAS and Cognos cubes to complete reporting on delinquency and loss rates on various customer segments.
- Strong project management and leadership skills to prioritize, manage and implement a variety of competing initiatives, on a concurrent or staggered basis.
- Excellent communication, written and motivational skills complemented with solid deductive reasoning, sound judgement and creativity.
- Strong financial and written skills complemented with solid deductive reasoning, sound judgement and creativity.
- Strong knowledge designing strategies for new account origination and account management and their respective account management / origination systems (ACS, Strategyware knowledge beneficial).
- Working knowledge in the use and development of behaviour scores, customs scores, credit bureau scores, marketing models (attrition/retention) and their respective validation process.
